Asya Fateyeva

In the organizer's words:

Asya Fateyeva is considered one of the leading classical saxophonists and expands the repertoire of her instrument with innovative programs and stylistic versatility. Born in Crimea, she studied in Cologne, Paris and Lyon, among other places, and is now a professor of saxophone in Hamburg and Lübeck.

She combines original works for saxophone with arrangements from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods as well as projects with jazz and world music. In 2014, she was the first woman to reach the final of the International Adolphe Sax Competition and won 3rd prize.

Fateyeva performs with renowned orchestras such as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and is a guest at international festivals, including Lucerne, Dresden and Schleswig-Holstein, where she was the focus of a portrait artist in 2024.

Her playing is characterized by openness to different styles and cultures and allows the saxophone to be experienced in new musical contexts.

Asya Fateyeva will be performing her innovative program "Around Bach" with us on 29 January 2026.
