Where can you hike in the universe? We want to do this on Earth and ask ourselves on the way to the "Hoher List" observatory where we could enjoy some fresh air. There are thousands of exoplanets, but could we breathe there? The geological development of our Earth helps to answer this question. The combination of a hike and an astronomical observation evening allows us to understand the formation of the Earth and the development of its volcanic activity in the context of planet formation and thus the special position of the Earth in the universe.

The event consists of two separate parts, which can be attended separately but complement each other. The hike starts at 16:30 and follows the question of what we can learn from the Eifel maars about the development of other planets in the universe. When we arrive at the "Hoher List" observatory at 19:00, an evening will follow with four observation opportunities at various telescopes, lectures on the special features of the evening, i.e. the comet C/2023 A3, Saturn and the moon in the Pleiades and tours of the historical instrument collection and the "Explanation of celestial mechanics" learning room.
