In the organizer's words:

post metal | post black metal | post rock | post hardcore

In a time when post-metal often finds itself recycling familiar tropes, AUßERWELT's debut full-length album "Breath" is a rare gust of originality - both expansive and intimate, cerebral yet visceral. The Münster-based quartet has distilled over a decade of sonic exploration and transformation into a 63-minute odyssey that is equal parts brutal and beautiful, abstract and deeply human.

BRUECKEN stand for dense atmosphere, instrumental power and emotional depth. The five-piece band from northern Germany moves between post-rock, shoegaze and post-hardcore. Their sound language is melancholic, dynamic, pictorial and unfolds an impressive force live - together with specially developed visuals.

rýr (islandic: barren, sparse, weak) is an instrumental post-metal band from Berlin, Germany. "transient" is their second full-length album. Like on the first album "left fallow", the band creates diverging spheres and heavy riffs, but with a more riff-centric focus on this album, to create a slightly more versatile and forward-going atmosphere. The sound origin is located in post and black metal, but the band tries to incorporate inspirations from every genre of music that has atmospheric and forward-going parts in it, without being too accommodating. The five songs constitute a diverting, 40 minutes long auditive journey.

Out of this world

Spread across nine tracks - including two ambient interludes - "Breath" is a masterclass in emotional dynamics and genre fusion. While its roots lie firmly in atmospheric extreme metal, the band pushes well beyond the expected boundaries. Blackened urgency, death metal weight, progressive intricacy, and post-hardcore immediacy all coalesce seamlessly. And yet, "Breath" doesn't feel like an attempt to tick genre boxes - instead, it flows with organic inevitability, like an exhale after a long-held breath.

The production - fully DIY, recorded in the band's own studio between 2022 and 2024 - is a triumph in itself. There's raw authenticity here, but also a clarity and punch brought into sharp focus by the expert mixing and mastering of Dennis Koehne. It's an album that breathes in both scope and detail - from the shimmering fragility of its piano and clean guitar passages to the searing walls of distortion that crash like emotional tides.

bridges

BRUECKEN unfold their full strength live and have already played at vivid.germany, Heliconfest and numerous club shows throughout Germany - together with acts such as Downfall of Gaia, It Was A Good Dream and Glasgow Coma Scale. Launched in 2016 as a band with a classic post-hardcore EP, the sudden death of founding member & singer Jan became a turning point - and a conscious decision to continue purely instrumentally in the future.

With their second album "Innere Unruhen" (2022, Moment of Collapse) at the latest, BRUECKEN moved further away from classic post-rock patterns. Since 2023, Bernd Frikke (MMTH, Enno Bunger) has joined the band on synthesizer. New influences met the existing basic sound of the band - carried by a melancholic, atmospheric basis from which BRUECKEN continue to open up in all directions in terms of sound.

rýr

transient was written by the band in 2020 and 2021 and then recorded in September 2021 by Jan Oberg at Hidden Planet Studios (The Ocean, Abest, Sun Worship), who also mixed and mastered the songs. The cover art is designed by Fabian Schlinsog (@poorlifechoicesclub) and emphasizes the concept of this album which focusses on the fleetingness of the moment, the relationships we build, the struggles we have to face - all taking place in enclosed walls and countries we live in. The sound of the album tries to capture the dialectics of these transient phenomena in dense and enclosed environments, yet still tries to identify small, sometimes clandestine portions of positive sentiments in modern world's urban emptiness.
