In the organizer's words:

Twelve-year-old Karli moves to the Alps with his family, where his parents finally fulfill their dream of owning their own hotel.

During his wanderings through the former grand hotel, he discovers that he can travel back in time in an old freight elevator - and ends up in the year 1938! Karli makes friends with the Jewish guest girl Hannah and the shoeshine boy Georg. But Karli doesn't dare tell his friends what he learns about the year 1938 and why it is vital that Hannah doesn't go back to Berlin. When Georg is wrongly accused of theft and fired, his new friends want to help him and find the real crook. In the process, the three discover that strange things are going on in the hotel. Is the handsome pianist Bruno a jewel thief? And is Hannah's father in cahoots with him?

The children decide to crack the mystery and find out that a huge secret is hidden behind the hotel façade!

Audience premiere as part of the Augen auf-Kinotag on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of National Socialism with a keynote speech by Annette Schavan (Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation EVZ)

The film will be followed by a discussion with André Fetzer (producer of DAS GEHEIME STOCKWERK), Maximilian Reinwald (child actor in DAS GEHEIME STOCKWERK), Dr. Veronika Heilmannseder (historian), Luigi Toscano (UNESCO Artist for Peace, photographer and filmmaker) and Jochen Laube (producer of ALS HITLER DAS ROSA KANINCHEN STAHL and the Instagram series ICH BIN SOPHIE SCHOLL, among others), moderated by Adrienne Braun (cultural journalist & presenter).
