FROM THE COLLECTION
New rooms in the art museum
From June 2026
A new series at the Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven will begin in June 2026 with From the Collection. Over the course of several months, individual rooms in the museum will be gradually refurnished and supplemented with new presentations. This will gradually open up new perspectives on the Kunstverein Bremerhaven's collection and new paths through the museum.
A selection of works by Stephan Balkenhol will kick off the exhibition on the first floor. Over the course of the series, works from the Kunstverein Bremerhaven collection, previously unseen new acquisitions and donations will also be presented.
With the Schröder donation, an important collection of contemporary art was transferred to the Kunstverein's collection in 2025. Some of the works last shown in the exhibition Die stille Revolte der Dinge. Schröder donation , will remain in the museum and become part of the series. In doing so, they will occasionally appear alongside older items from the collection and open up new perspectives and contexts without following an overarching thematic exhibition.
From the Collection reveals the complexity of the Kunstverein's holdings and opens up new perspectives on the collection's focal points, artistic connections and historical and contemporary positions.
In the course of the series with, among others:
Stephan Balkenhol, Douglas Gordon, Sergej Jensen, Annette Kelm, Karin Kneffel, Otto Modersohn, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Silke Otto Knapp, Norbert Schwontkowski, Katharina Wulff and Amelie von Wulffen.
