Ausstellung: “Castlemorton Common Festival 1992” – Photography by Alan Lodge / Präsentiert von British Shorts Film Festival 2024

150 films, 7 days, 6 venues! The British Shorts Film Festival is back and presents a photo exhibition at the Sputnik Kinobar.

Photographer Alan Lodge has been documenting "alternative" lifestyles and subcultures since the 1970s. As a nomadic traveler, he captured a Freetekno festival at the foot of the Malvern Hills in May 1992, which was to have far-reaching consequences for the free party culture in Great Britain.

More than 20,000 people gathered over a weekend at Castlemorton Common Festival for a rave, while the press propagated a moral panic. It resulted in the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, which banned unannounced raves and basically all events with "repetitive beats".

The British Shorts Film Festival 2024 exhibition in the Sputnik cinema bar shows a selection of the impressive photographs taken by Alan Lodge at the Castlemorton Common Festival 1992.
