The Art Prize for Photography goes to Hannes Jung.
Hannes Jung, born 1986 in Bremen, studied photography 2007 - 2016 at the HS Munich, EASD Valencia and HS Hannover and has been a freelance documentary photographer since 2009 and represented by the agency LAIF since 2012. He lives and works in Berlin.
The sponsorship awards go to Daniela Friebel and Arwed Messmer.Daniela Friebel, born 1975 in Berlin, studied English / American Studies & Hispanic Studies following her M.A. at the HGB Leipzig, where she received her diploma in Fine Arts from Prof. Timm Rautert in 2008 and her master's degree from Prof. Christopher Muller in 2011. She lives and works in Berlin.
Arwed Messmer, born in 1964 in Schopfheim, Baden-Württemberg, studied visual communication at the FH Dortmund from 1988 to 1993; DAAD exchange scholarship holder at the HGB Leipzig in 1990; freelance photographer since 1992, primarily in the field of documentary photography; has produced extensive exhibitions and publications on East Berlin in the 1950s, the Berlin Wall (with the writer Annett Gröschner), West German left-wing terrorism and the archives of the State Security; lives in Berlin.
The Art Prize
Promoting art is an important concern for LAND BRANDENBURG LOTTO GmbH. An art prize for photography is awarded in the amount of 10,000 euros (not divisible). In addition, either a further art prize of 10,000 euros or two sponsorship prizes of 5,000 euros each will be awarded. The 2025 call for entries was issued in January. By March, 156 artists from Berlin and Brandenburg had applied for the highly endowed photography prizes. The jury consisted of Steffen Mühle, photographer and consultant for cultural festivals in the state of Brandenburg (Potsdam); Franziska Schmidt, art historian, curator and author (Berlin) and Dr. Kristina Schrei, art historian and curator (Berlin).
