Where the boundaries between art and design, between "free" and "applied" creation, run is constantly being renegotiated in public discourse. Andrea van Reimersdahl is not directly interested in this question. Since she is at home in both worlds - she studied both design and painting and designed fashion herself for more than ten years - she crosses the boundaries unabashedly.
Andrea van Reimersdahl's works are serigraphs, which means they are created using a freehand silkscreen process. Starting from the silhouette of her body, she develops abstract, anthropomorphic forms that are digitally transformed into print templates.
This is also the case in her exhibition "Paperdolls," which consists exclusively of textile works. In doing so, she explores the liveliness and lightness of the textile material, staging textiles from different angles and inviting viewers to imagine fabric as wearable art.
The exhibition "PAPERDOLLS" runs up to and including November 2 and can be visited weekdays with a short appointment at info@ge59.space.
