Ausstellung "Translating Traditions - Marlen Letetzki & Desire Moheb-Zandi"
In the organizer's words:
The young artists Marlen Letetzki and Desire Moheb-Zandi both deal with traditions - in both an artistic and a cultural sense. In doing so, they use completely different media to create a connection to the present. Desire Moheb-Zandi creates monumental tapestries into which she incorporates unusual materials such as rubber hoses or dowels. In Marlen Letetzki'spaintings, on the other hand, supposedly everyday forms come together to form peculiar still lifes.
For Marlen Letetzki, it is painting in its play with body and surface, material and image. In her paintings, she combines the tradition of classical craftsmanship with the latest digital possibilities. For her work, she often uses 3D simulations she has modeled herself, which she translates into painting. She creates seemingly everyday forms such as curtain elements, liquids or hoses, which defy all logic in their composition. Strange things come together here to form a unity, which also implies a social level.
