In the organizer's words:

The exhibition examines how migrants and their relatives maintain relationships and care for each other across borders. The focus is on material care, which is expressed in sending and bringing things.

Everyday life for many migrant families: gifts when visiting home, sending parcels or requests to bring certain things. Such transnational practices of sharing and gift-giving negotiate themes such as identity, belonging and care.

Divided Worlds presents four interviews with migrants as well as their suitcases, parcels and the things they contain as material traces of closeness, memory and care.

The exhibition is funded by Interkultur Ruhr and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. A project within the framework of KOMMEN BLEIBEN GEHEN - Creative projects at temporary locations.
