What remains of war when the focus is not on weapons but on people?

With the outdoor exhibition "Between War and Hope", which can be seen from April 24 to September 30, 2025, Agentur Focus and the St. Nikolai Memorial invite you to take an in-depth look at a complex topic that has always accompanied humanity - war.

In haunting photographs, over 20 international photojournalists tell stories of people's experiences in extreme situations, of moments of shock, waiting, hope, reconstruction and the search for peace. On display are photographs from different parts of the world of long-standing, ongoing, almost forgotten or highly topical conflicts.

We cordially invite you to the festive opening of the exhibition on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, 18:30!

There will be a guided tour by the curator and the rap collective "Word up!" from the Esche Jugendkunsthaus will perform a song composed especially for the exhibition. The opening will take place on the square of the former nave, registration is not required.
