As part of its “WATER” thematic focus, Gallery Cubeplus is launching a long-term artistic research project this week at the intersection of marine biology, medicine, and art, in collaboration with artist Benjamin Janzen.

To mark this occasion, we cordially invite you to the first test site of this interdisciplinary research project.

The event offers an opportunity to get to know the project and the artist and to gain initial insights into the research approaches. Starting with algae-based textiles, the project explores membranes and interfaces as sites of exchange and encounter between art and medicine. The focus is on touch as a transgressive force that renders the boundaries between bodies, disciplines, and forms of knowledge permeable.

With this first event, we mark the beginning of an ongoing artistic research process that will continue to develop over the next two years in collaboration with Gallery Cubeplus.

During the first three weeks of research, a workshop was held with the Time-Based Media class at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts. The resulting works will be presented and exhibited as part of the project.
