1980: Abadan, the oil metropolis of Iran, is facing an Iraqi siege. The young Omid stays with his grandfather after trying in vain to enlist as a soldier. On his wanderings through the city, he meets unusual characters who all have their reasons for staying in the city despite the threat of the Iraqi invasion. Among them is a famous diva and her daughter Pari, with whom Omid falls in love. As the situation worsens, he discovers and repairs an obsolete boat, a Lenj. Does this find offer Omid the chance to save himself and all the people he cares about?
In her animated film, director Sepideh Farsi sheds light on the era following the Iranian revolution, in which the country experienced a turning point whose aftermath continues to shape it today.
