Barrio Sonoro
In the organizer's words:
BARRIO SONORO: A Global Sound Exploration in Berlin
Barrio Sonoro is a new concert series in Berlin that seeks to explore and showcase the rich legacy of global popular music. It features artists from all corners of the world, many of whom are based in Berlin. This season offers an in-depth look at the musical heritage of regions such as Brazil, Latin America, the Caribbean, South Africa, Cape Verde, the Mediterranean, and Bulgaria. With an emphasis on popular music and the musical traditions that shape local scenes, Barrio Sonoro serves as both a forecast and a reflection of Berlin’s evolving artistic landscape.
A series created in collaboration with Hotel Continental – Art Space in Exile in Alt-Treptow, a former piano factory dedicated to artistic exchange in times of displacement.
Curated and produced by Héléna Fontaine and Félix Huet from A Panda do Sol.

Glizzalúa
In 2025, Elena La Conte, flutist, singer, and composer (Italy), and Djuna Lund Llopis, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer (Catalonia), met in Berlin and began weaving their musical worlds into a shared tapestry. Glizzalúa’s live show unfolds like a ritual: poetic and theatrical, driven by fierce feminine energy, thunderous percussive surges, and the raw power of women’s voices, pierced by psychedelic flashes of electric guitar and organ, all balanced on the edge of beautiful madness.
Drawing inspiration from the songs of the Mediterranean, the rhythms of the Balkans, and the colors of Latin America, they are constantly innovating and diving into a more psychedelic and electric universe. In this dialogue between tradition and experimentation, the two musicians find their own sound, crafting a unique and original song.
Musicians:
Djuna Lund Llopis - Hammond, electric guitar, pandero cuadrado, vocals
Elena La Conte - flute, vocals, kass kass, pedals.
Bulgarian Voices Berlin
Bulgarian Voices Berlin e.V. is a multinational women’s ensemble dedicated to traditional Bulgarian folk singing, exploring authentic and contemporary arrangements and interpretations. Formed in 2009 under the direction of Boryana Velichkova, the choir has become a home not only for Bulgarian singers but also for women from diverse backgrounds. Each woman has discovered Bulgarian folk songs in her own unique way, but a shared joy in this music and a deep desire to pass it on unite the choir members.
BVB performs songs from all corners of Bulgaria, including some of the best-known and most challenging pieces of Bulgarian folklore. BVB takes the listener on an emotional journey—from the humorous, loud, and often dissonant duets of Western Bulgaria, to the timeless melodies of the Rhodopes, to the complex and sophisticated ornamentation that characterizes the songs of the Black Sea coast in the east. Once heard, the Bulgarian folk song, with its captivating melodies and fascinating rhythms, leaves a deep, powerful impression. The music sweeps the soul away and possesses a power and richness that fills both the heart and the concert halls.
