It is Martin Luther King's legacy to always and everywhere stand up against all forms of discrimination and racism - here and now as well as 60 years ago in the USA.
In its staged musical program, Basta-Musik-Theater traces the eventful and moving path of the Nobel Peace Prize winner - from the beginnings of the non-violent resistance of the civil rights movement in the mid-1950s to King's assassination in 1968.
And again and again there are cross-references to our situation here in Germany, where right-wing extremist politicians openly propagate and plan the deportation of migrants.
The Basta-Musik-Theater program uses original quotes from Martin Luther King, short scenes, sound clouds and recordings of the famous "I have a Dream" speech. The content is accompanied by live performances of songs by King's companions such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, as well as songs written by the Basta Theater itself.
