In the organizer's words:

Thibaut Wenger from BAUT Studio and the Mining Map Bern project is bringing a workshop to waslangewert that focuses on circular design and the creative use of residual materials. Thibaut is the initiator of several projects that show how new uses can be created from supposed waste. With the Mining Map, he makes free waste materials accessible via a digital map and translates theory directly into design practice.

What you can expect:

In this workshop, you will work with Thibaut on designing with various residual materials. Old climbing ropes, cardboard boxes and plywood, as well as other reusable materials, will be used to create furniture and anything else the creative space has to offer. Thibaut will also provide insights into the Mining Map ** and his way of working between research, material collection and design.

The workshop concept:

• Working with reused and freely available materials
• Open design process with room for experimentation
• Introduction to circular design approaches
• Designing and building together in small groups
• Personal support and exchange throughout the workshop
• learning by doing - instructions for fixed end products are available as support

No previous knowledge is required. The workshop is deliberately designed to be open and is aimed at anyone who wants to rethink materials, try things out and experience design as a process. At the end you can realize your own design or make one of the designs you have brought along, Monkey Fist Stool or the Donut Stool from climbing ropes.

The workshop lasts approx. 4 hours and includes an introduction, a joint design and construction phase and an exchange of ideas.

Both workshops take place at Grindelallee 129 in Hamburg. The events are hosted by waslangewert in cooperation with the respective organizer. The premises are supported by the Hamburger Kreativ Gesellschaft. All tools and materials are available. Drinks are available on a donation basis.
