Book launch with Janine Bächle (photographer, Leipzig) as part of the SpinnereiGalerien tour

Leipzig-based photographer Janine Bächle presents her new photo book "Becoming Parents" (to be published in January 2026). In a conversation with the director of our art library, Jenny Starick, she presents her long-term photographic project of the same name and gives an intimate insight into family as a structure. What is the tension between parenthood and individuality? In this autobiographical and ongoing series, which was already on display at the Leipzig Photobook Festival 2025 in HALLE 14, Bächle accompanies her own everyday life with positive and negative aspects in a raw and unembellished way. In the new photo book, this photographic insight is complemented by poems, diary excerpts and the accompanying text "In Flux: The Aesthetics of Becoming" by art historian Joanna Wolfarth. The artist thus presents an authentic perspective on parenthood, motherhood and the female body.
