Lada cars in the GDR

While people always turned up their noses at the GDR two-strokes, the various Lada series as four-strokes enjoyed a leap of faith from the outset. They had their origins in the Fiat 124 from Italy and were first imported from the GDR as Shiguli, later with the export designation Lada. They were built from 1970 by the car manufacturer AvtoWAS on the Volga. They found their way from the Soviet Union to most socialist states. The non-fiction book "Lada 1970-1990 - History, Models, Technology", edited by Rolf Mahlke, shows all these facets with production figures, technical data and previously unpublished photos. The automotive surprises that we present on the doorstep make the evening even more exciting.
