The tour ties in with the central research topics and artistic positions of the "On Water" exhibition and makes them vividly tangible in the urban space of Spreeinsel. The role that water plays in everyday urban life - historically, ecologically and socially - becomes visible at specific locations. The focus is on current issues and observations: water quality and bathing in the Spree, public drinking and fountains, historic lever pumps as part of critical infrastructure and climate adaptation measures such as unsealing and infiltration systems for heavy rainfall. The cooling effect of evaporation from trees and façade greenery will also be discussed. The approximately one-and-a-half-hour tour combines urban observation with background knowledge and opens up a dialog between different scientific perspectives. The tour concludes with a return to the exhibition in the Humboldt Laboratory.
The water walk is led by Christian Hajer.
