So here it is: the moment when everything in Benjamin Rose's life comes together and the five fingers of one hand clench into a metaphorical fist in a gesture of self-empowerment. "Moment", the new and second album by Rose's band BenjRose, is a passionate, rousing pop beacon in a class of its own.

It's been a long road: Benjamin Rose, the singer and songwriter of the Cologne-based band BenjRose, was and is the son of a famous father, he sold hundreds of thousands of CDs as a teenager, later appeared on stage as a singer with his band as the opening act for stars such as Pink, Westernhagen and Lenny Kravitz and, together with Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters, Wallflowers), wrote, produced and released the impressive Benj Rose debut "Where Do We Go?" (2019) with Rami Jaffee (Foo Fighters).

But he also knows the abysses of life: as a person of color, Rose has experienced racism all his life, the supposedly harmless - where are you from, can I touch your hair? - as well as racism in its most repugnant form. Rose spent parts of his childhood in the care of his beloved grandmother, a Sintessa and Auschwitz survivor who had to deal with her own traumas.

So Benjamin Rose knows pain, powerlessness and despair, but he also knows love and the beneficial power of big dreams. In the new songs of his band BenjRose, he has now gathered together all the loose ends of his life and condensed them into the most intense songs of his career to date.
