With [GN-z33/6°], artist BENSON A'KUYIE combines Afrofuturist imagination with a physical exploration of anger, identity and healing. Drawing on the power of the number 33 - a "master number" attributed with nurturing and transformative energy in numerology - A'KUYIE explores how Black, queer bodies are constantly marked as "other" in the white gaze. The performance transforms experiences of isolation, alienation and pent-up anger into an intense ritual field of movement in which Krump, voice and memory intertwine. [GN-z33/6°] opens up a space in which marginalized perspectives become visible, energies shift and new images of the future can emerge.
