Nina Bachmann's show "Let them drink champagne!" deals with the contradictions of desire and aversion, lust and emptiness, absurdity and abyss, dominance and submission. Her characters embody the urge to indulge, to surrender, to feel superior. The artist says: "Luxury and hedonism have a strong attraction. The desire for abundance and a luxurious lifestyle is deeply rooted in our society. Social staging, the desire for influence, recognition and power play a central role in this. Material possessions, social status and exclusive experiences serve as a benchmark for success."
