"Bild und Ton" Sebastian Pertl (Keramik) & Tobias Meier (Fotografie)

Sebastian Pertl and Tobias Meier are presenting a joint exhibition at Obernzell Castle that brings together two different artistic positions in an open dialog.

Sebastian Pertl works as a ceramicist in a traditional formal language. In contrast to the originality of the form are the incised decorations, which show entertaining contemporary motifs. The expression of the incised line moves between calm and dynamism, between planning and intuition. In terms of craftsmanship, Pertl works with red-firing clay, brauseufo-colored engobes and transparent glaze. In his works, this combination of craftsmanship and creative realization results in humorous and harmonious small series.

Tobias Meier sees photography as a quiet, observational practice. His works are created over long periods of time, without a predetermined concept. They move between documentary precision and open, atmospheric perception. Meier is interested in transitional states, interstices, pauses and tensions in everyday life. His pictures dispense with explanatory statements and instead open up space for slow, concentrated contemplation.

While Pertl's ceramics are characterized by craftsmanship, repetition and variation, Meier's photographs refer to found situations, rhythms and breaks beyond the smooth and completed.

The exhibition "Image and Sound" sees itself as a momentary convergence of two perspectives that deal with time, process and attention in different ways in ceramic and photographic works.
