Birdingtrip: Rieselfelder Münster

Three days of birdwatching in one of Germany's most important wetlands: the Rieselfelder near Münster. The trip is ideal for anyone who wants to get to know birds better - even without much prior knowledge. Together with an experienced guide, you will visit water areas, reed beds, observation huts and open areas where, depending on the season, ducks, geese, gulls, waders and birds of prey can be seen.

Day 1: Arrival and first observations
The group meets at the hotel at midday. After getting to know each other, we head straight to the Rieselfelder. There is a lot to discover even after a short walk: Water birds, ducks, gulls and, with a bit of luck, the first birds of prey. In the evening, depending on the weather, the group can experience the sunset and the evening flight movements of the birds.

Day 2: A whole day in the nature reserve
The second day is all about birdwatching. After an early breakfast, we head back to the Rieselfelder. The group explores various areas of the nature reserve on foot, using observation huts and stopping at good vantage points. The focus is on water birds, limicolous birds such as ruffs and greenshanks, as well as reed species such as water rail, bearded reedling and reed bunting. It is also worth looking upwards: marsh harriers, tree falcons, buzzards or, with luck, ospreys may fly past. The observations are discussed together in the evening.

Day 3: Last observations and departure
In the morning, we go back to the area. Depending on the current observation situation, other areas of the Rieselfelder will be visited, including the extensive western part of the reserve. Here it is worth looking for shy species in the reeds, resting small birds, swallows, swifts and other waders. After lunch, the trip ends at around 13:30.
