BIRDLAND VOCAL SESSION FEAT. CHIMERI

The Birdland VocalSession is the open stage event for singers. Accompanied by a professional band, everything from jazz, pop, blues, rap, soul to freestyle improvisation is brought to the stage. Whether professional or amateur, everyone is invited to sing and contribute to a varied program. Organized by Beate Kynast, each opener is an exciting concert followed by the equally exciting session.

Bring a lead sheet, copied three times, to your song, bring lots of friends to cheer you on and perform with first-class instrumentalists who will stick with you through thick and thin.

Opener: Chimeri is a German-Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer based in Berlin. She received early lessons in jazz singing in her hometown of Hamburg, but it wasn't until she moved to Accra (Ghana) in 2023 that she started writing, producing and releasing her own songs. So far she has released two singles: "Simple Guys" (2024) and "Dawn and Mourning" (2025). Chimeri's sound combines influences from jazz, classic soul, blues and alternative/electronic elements, inspired by artists such as Sade, Nina Simone, Joe Sample and Paul Hardcastle. She writes about love, banalities and the strange feeling of not being completely in control of your own life.
