Björks »Homogenic« | Ein Popalbum als Streichquintett

The 1997 album "Homogenic" marked a new stage in the work of the Icelandic artist of the century Björk. After her first two solo albums "Debut" and "Post", she increasingly worked with classical orchestral elements and became more rhythmically experimental. The result: gold and platinum - and one of the best music videos of all time with "All is full of Love".
A good choice, then, for the international string quintet "Wooden Elephant", which consists of Aoife Ní Bhriain from Ireland, Hulda Jónsdóttir from Iceland, Ian Anderson from Scotland, Stefan Hadjiev from Bulgaria and Nikolai Matthews from Norway. Wooden Elephant" reinterprets classic albums of electronic pop music and presents them as acoustic, contemporary classical concert works.
To kick off the festival, the quintet, founded in 2017, interprets Björk's legendary album as music for string instruments, uses the sound inventions of new music and still plays pop - in line with their motto "We Play Albums". A must for all those who loved - or missed - "Vespertine" at the National Theater!
