Twenty years after her death, the influence of the writer and activist Audre Lorde on the African-American, feminist and queer movements is still extremely vivid. Her Berlin years from 1984 to 1992, during which Lorde helped Afro-German women in particular to gain more self-confidence and commented on the social changes in the city, which were characterized by the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification, are a chapter that has received little attention. For the first time, personal video and audio recordings by Dagmar Schultz provide an in-depth look into the life of the private Audre Lorde, but also allow fellow campaigners, students and friends to have their say. This extraordinary portrait premiered in the Panorama section of the 2012 Berlinale. (Schultz, Germany 2012 - Original language)
