The Elville Blues Band around Tom Schaffert celebrates the blues every month with changing guests at the dasHaus cultural center. In June, the Heidelberg blues rock guitarist Volker Strifler will be a guest.

The monthly Blues Sessions at the dasHaus cultural center in Ludwigshafen offer authentic blues rock from the ElVille Blues Band with Tom Schaffert (guitar), Sam Sommer (drums), Frowin Ickler (bass) and Tom Karb (Hammond), who will be celebrating authentic, handmade blues together with Volker Strifler in June - what you see is what you get, all handmade.

Volker Strifler (who grew up in Heidelberg's Ziegelhausen district) is a perfect blues rock guitarist who has mastered all the subtleties of his instrument. As a frontman, he has it all - burning, disciplined solos, controlled but expressive vocals and melodies that bring pure musical joy to any audience, and he has played with Robben Ford in his band for years, toured with many other artists (BB King, Elvis Bishop...) and been involved in many recordings in the studio. Volker Strifler's style is a mixture of modern blues rock, soulful backbeats reminiscent of mid-50s R&B ballads, country blues roots and jazz. His playing is reminiscent of Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Wes Montgomery and Ry Cooder. Combined with Strifler's laid-back, husky vocals, the end result is music played with deep conviction and astonishing originality.
