Bob Rutman Tribute: Let's Do Some Music for Bob Rutman

In the organizer's words:

Munsha (Cello & Vocals) | Yuko Matsuyama (Voice & Movement)

Bastiaan Maris (Jeffrey's Bow Chime) | KAI Dead Chickens (Noise Guitar)

"Alright, let's get this fucking noise show started!" Bob's words at the opening of his legendary live shows echo endlessly on the stage at the Eschschloraque. Countless performances form this echo, be it live improvisations with luminaries of the music and dance scene, the honor of bringing "Bob's Birthday Specials" to the stage or the numerous volumes of the concert series "Let's do some Music with Bob Rutman". Today, the music for Bob roars - in memory of the icon of the Berlin underground, the father of the steel cello and decades of intoxicatingly relentless noise shows.

Selected companions of the exceptional artist form the Bob Rutman Tribute, which interweaves individual stories and gives them a stage, because they all have their own story to tell about Bob. The word is given to complex sound dialogues that commemorate the legendary metal sound art: cello sounds by composer and sound designer MUNSHA that break conventions and constantly explore new boundaries invite you to lose yourself between sound and environment, finding beauty in chaos and uncertainty. Music appears as a constantly evolving experiment, a distorted reflection of the world seen through the prism of altered perception. Performing artist YUKO MATSUYAMA sees live performances as an experimental platform for intercultural dialog. Exploring the intersection of dance and music, she creates interdisciplinary works in which sound, voice and movement intersect as equal forms of expression. BASTIAAN MARIS presents a powerful transformation of energy into sound, revealing the inner workings of this process in all its beauty. Bastiaan is one of the people who built instruments for Bob. Together with him, Jeffrey Funt and Nico Lippolis, they also founded the band Mastodon. For the tribute, he plays Jeffrey's Bow Chime, because the profound musical history and friendship with Bob is also anchored in the instruments, the steel bodies of sound. Steel, fire and the immense beauty of the monstrous lead us to KAI: His metal art combines raw, edgy, rusty material and kinetic sculptures in a stubbornly soulful work; as a performance artist with 'Noise Gitarr', he condenses the tribute into a poetically avant-garde network of sound dialogs.

The sound reflections around Bob Rutman and the associated associations of musicians and performers are at the same time a trace of decades of art production and music history in Haus Schwarzenberg and Eschschloraque Rümschrümp. The tribute is part of the accompanying program to the exhibition ECHOHAUS - 30 Years Haus Schwarzenberg in the Neurotitan, in which, among other things, the Buzz-Chime, built according to Bob's plans by Bastiaan Maris and Bill Earwaker, is exhibited. The Echo answers in the Eschschloraque, as Bob would say: "Hallelujah!" We say: Let's play this fucking noise show - for Bob!
