Bodies, Grids and Ecstasy

What becomes of physical reality in a world increasingly permeated by digital processes? Following this question, this exhibition confronts us with surprising encounters - and contradictions - between surface and space, abstraction and matter, reality and fiction. We find paintings, objects or sculptures in which what actually does not fit together meets or is joined together - ultimately collages whose cuts are not visible.

Will what doesn't fit into predictable grids eventually become nothing more than analog residual matter, left behind like garbage? Or become something that lies beyond our horizon, like our three-dimensional world for the inhabitants of a flat land that would only consist of two dimensions?

The exhibition presents various artistic paths that lead (back) out of the gridded surface land that can appear on a computer screen, a sheet of paper, or on a wall, and into the world of the haptic, the physical, and the narrative. These can be straightforward, leading in unfamiliar directions, but can also be intricate, humorous, and cryptic. They can also contain a subtle or direct critique of capitalism based on digital processes.
