brach und wild

In the organizer's words:

Premiere: Thu 04.07. | 16:00-19:00 | Brache beim Huji Maja e.V.

Can we gain insights into human life by observing flora? Magdalena Weniger (performance) and Maren Wickwire (film) turn their attention to wastelands in the landscape and human biographies, researching their origins and development and exploring their potential. brach und wild is an installative and durational performance on an urban wasteland. While the performance by three dancers and the soundtrack of interview fragments and field recordings can be experienced directly, other multidimensional exhibition objects must first be discovered. The tour thus becomes an individual exploration of the wasteland on site and the theme itself.

Allow around 45 minutes for your visit and note the following information: You will need a device with internet access for interviews, the language of the interviews is German.

The performance will take place on the fallow land at Huji Maja e.V. (Friedrichstraße 58, 79098 Freiburg im Breisgau).

KOMA&Ko is a group of artists under the overall artistic direction of Magdalena Weniger, based in Dresden and Freiburg. The works move playfully between dance and voice, installation and space-sound experience. The core team consists of Magdalena Weniger (direction, choreography), Martin Mulik (technology, lighting design), Bettina Kletzsch (set design) and Jarii van Gohl (music design).
