In static shots, the film (Stephanie Spray, Pacho Velez, Nepal/USA 2013, 118 min) accompanies pilgrims, tourists and animals on their cable car ride to the Manakamana temple of the Hindu goddess Bhagwati in Nepal. Each of the twelve shots shows a ride on the cable car, twelve portraits of people and the surrounding landscape and culture.
The film is a cinematic trance, conceptual transgression and ethnographic study in equal measure.
