Our Bremerhaven Music Summer 2024 will be over so soon. With one laughing and one crying eye, we wish you a great evening with our last act MerQury!

Cover bands are a dime a dozen. Really good ones are in short supply. In Dresden you can find one of these rare formations. The queentribute band MerQury is one of the few groups that has been playing to enthusiastic audiences worldwide for years. Various tours have taken MerQury through Europe and North America. So there must be something special about the four graduates of the Dresden University of Music and their Canadian frontman. Since their formation in 1991, MerQury have played well over 1,500 shows in over 20 different countries. The band's musicians were also the main protagonists in the successful musical We are the Champions, which was celebrated by more than 200,000 fans throughout Europe. MerQury's concept with a mixture of deceptively real interpretations of Queen songs and their own musical creativity is a complete success. The five thoroughbred musicians win over even dedicated Queen fans and always offer their audience an extraordinary concert experience. The successful combination of brilliant sound, elaborate light show including pyrotechnic effects, shrill costumes and lots of audience interaction make every MerQury show incomparable. As the frontman, British-born Jody Cooper is not only visually convincing in the role of Freddie Mercury. Vocally, the singer shines in difficult passages of the world-famous Queen songs. As an extravagant entertainer, he wins the sympathy of the audience in no time at all.
The band has been actively involved in Aidshilfe Dresden e.V. for more than ten years and organizes the traditional annual Queen party in the Saxon metropolis on a grand scale. As a tribute to Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS on November 24, 1991, artists from a wide range of genres perform together with MerQury. Past shows have featured artists such as Jimmy Somerville, Chris Thompson electra and Natalia Posnova with fantastic interpretations of Queen's music. Proceeds from the event will help support the fight against one of the world's most terrible diseases.
MerQury is continuing the legacy of Freddie Mercury in a special way in another project: with the support of Peter Freestone, Freddie Mercury's former personal assistant, Queen-Classical ingeniously combines the sound worlds of rock band and symphony orchestra and brings works such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Barcelona to life in a unique way.
