The content
Sophie writes letters. This is something special, as not everyone in her society can read and write. What is unusual, however, is that she is allowed to do so: Sophie writes from prison! She has put up a fight and stopped just looking on. Now she has to face the consequences.
On the other side are those who receive her letters. Not everyone approves of what Sophie has done; the reactions are open rejection and disapproval as well as sadness and anger. Everything turns out well in the end - or does it?
This short play is about looking and looking away, about resistance and civil courage, about joining in and running along. It is about friendship, love and family.
Sophie could also be called Kim or Amira, or Malaika or Svetlana.
About the play
For its 40th birthday, DIE kleine BÜHNE Hannover is presenting a very special anniversary treat! Not only will this out-of-series production be a play by young people for young people (and adults), it will also be a world premiere!
On Friday, 19.06.2026 at 18:00, the curtain opens for the short play - written by Frank Neumann and Olaf Daum, realized by our young people.
In keeping with the purpose of the association, we want to promote young people and, as always, offer our audience good entertainment. Let us surprise you!
Further performances will take place on June 29 and 30, as well as during the community festival on August 22 and the Vesperkirche on September 18.
