Briston Maroney has been on the road a lot in his life. After an already semi-nomadic childhood spent between Tennessee and Florida, he turned his life upside down in one exciting month. He dropped out of college, broke up with his girlfriend, and suddenly had the problem of desperately needing a job as well as an apartment. Although he was still a minor, he drove from Knoxville to California, from there to Florida and back to Nashville. At the end of the trip, he had made up his mind: Music would henceforth rule his life.
And when Maroney sets his mind to something, he follows through. He began to keep his head above water with house concerts and conquered his fans virtually from living room to living room. He quickly became something of a de facto leader in the city's growing DIY scene, gathering disparate lineups in tiny clubs across the city and creating a signature aesthetic with longtime friends and collaborators Joey Brodnax and Drew Bauml. The wanderlust, however, is always present in his songs. On his debut album "Sunflower" from 2021, you can literally hear the road movie that the American has poured into sound together with his band. It is a record full of unruly indie rock and powerful songs with bite and heart, with which one can cruise quite excellently through the Midwest. With the album and four equally great EPs, the young man has amassed a good 430 million streams. He is currently working on new material: In September his second album "Ultrapure" will be released, which he will then also present live with us in November. He will be supported by the wonderful English singer/songwriter and indie pop artist Abbie Ozard.
