In its more than 18 years of festival history, the British Shorts Film Festival has always placed a special focus on documentaries. The 2026 edition once again presents four very special screenings of exciting, entertaining and visionary short documentaries from the UK, Ireland - and around the world. Award-winning works that tell urgent stories and blend the genre with influences from drama, animation and experimental film!

Howls to the Harbour (Documentary), dir.: Christian Cargill, 16:40 min.
Patrick Wolf, an internationally renowned avant-garde artist and queer pop star of the 2000s, tries to make a new start after a personal breakdown.

Plongeurs (Documentary), dir.: Hector Aponysus, 11:54 min.
A documentary about masculinity, fearlessness and freedom: young men in Marseille jump from extreme heights - highways, cliffs and buildings - into the Mediterranean Sea.

It All Comes Down (Animation, Documentary), dir.: Meg Earls, 06:17 min.
Three generations of women sit around a table and the granddaughter begins to ask questions about the past.

You Can Call Me Lou (Documentary), D.: Georgia Zeta Gkoka, 13:00 min.
