Haydn's art of playing with familiar listening habits can be found in almost all of his symphonies. This is exemplified by No. 43, in which Haydn triggers many an irritation in the final movement - for example, when he slows down the tempo to such an extent that the music seems to fall completely asleep shortly before its furious finale. The Hofkapelle München under its artistic director Rüdiger Lotter opens its program with this Haydn-typical stroke of genius. And after thrilling audiences with Mozart's 1st Violin Concerto at the Brühl guest performance in 2023, it now continues with the 2nd Violin Concerto. After the interval, one of Igor Stravinsky's most successful ballet compositions will be performed: in 1928, he created one of his most rousing neoclassical works for the story of Apollo, the god of the arts and the muses.
