In the middle of her trial on the charges against the Last Generation, activist Carla Hinrichs is coming to the Colosseum with the premiere of her book "Meine verletzte Generation"! A reading & discussion about a law that is supposed to fight terror and is now increasingly restricting our basic rights. The evening will be hosted by journalist and author Gilda Sahebi.

Carla Hinrichs is still asleep when a task force storms her apartment, citing Section 129 of the German Criminal Code. The charge: forming a criminal organization, the Last Generation. The law student from Bremen, who is committed to ensuring that laws are upheld by the state, now ends up in court herself. This book is a harrowing testimony to how wounded our democracy is and an urgent appeal to actively use our own fundamental rights again and again - while we still have them.

This is not about the climate crisis. This is about democracy and the autocratization of our state. And about paragraph 129 of the German Criminal Code. A law that is intended to empower the public prosecutor's office in the fight against terror and the mafia and that is being misused to suppress fundamental rights such as freedom of assembly and freedom of expression. The charges against Carla Hinrichs and the Last Generation thus set a precedent against civil society. Their protests have always been non-violent, but now they are threatened with prison. Carla Hinrichs, born in 1997, is a climate activist and author. She grew up in Bremen and was politically active with Amnesty International during her school years. In 2015, she began studying law, which she pursued until her first state examination. But the climate crisis intervened. From 2022, she became involved with the Last Generation, was a guest on talk shows, spoke on panels or commented on the protests on the ground.
