It is cold in East Berlin when Marlene Dietrich lands in her former hometown for a stopover in January 1964. She has broken with Germany and wants to travel on to Warsaw as quickly as possible. But two men are waiting for her in West Berlin: The governing mayor Willy Brandt and his spokesman Egon Bahr want her to run against the former Nazi Heinrich Lübke in the election for Federal President.
What if this had happened? On the stage of the Cold War, BudeMunkWieland develop a ludicrous story from fiction, facts and images. It deals with freedom, dictatorship, resistance, exile and adaptation and extends the 20th century into the present.

BudeMunkWieland are:

Heinz Bude, born in 1954, Professor of Macrosociology at the University of Kassel from 2000 to 2023, founding director of the documenta Institute there since 2020. He lives in Berlin.
Hanser recently published "Abschied von den Boomern (2024)".

Bettina Munk, born in 1960, studied art in Berlin and London. She lives in Berlin and has taught at various universities. Exhibitions in Europe and the USA, most recently "Zeichnungen Berlin 1980er (Jahn und Jahn, Munich 2021)" and "In Your Face (Vincenz Sala, Berlin 2024)".

Karin Wieland, born in 1958, studied political science in Berlin, where she lives as a writer. Most recently, Hanser published "Das Geschlecht der Seele. Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Bert Brecht und die Erscheinung der modernen Frau (2017)" by Hanser.
BudeMunkWieland published "Aufprall (2020)" as a collective of authors and artists.
