Tanzstück "Polares Land"

A blend of contemporary dance on ice skates and on foot,
composed music, and natural history themes, a
artistic exploration of the polar regions and their ecosystems.
Movement and sound coalesce into an atmospheric
exploration of adaptation, survival, and the relationship between
animals and their habitats.

“Polares Land” is an interdisciplinary dance production by Zoo Leipzig,
IceLab Leipzig e.V., and the Neue Musik Leipzig Music School.
The premiere will take place on July 4, 2026, on the Kulturbühne at Zoo Leipzig
.

The performance will be danced by the dancers of the IceLab Company—on ice skates
as well as on their feet—on the mobile synthetic ice rink at IceLab
Leipzig, under the direction of choreographer Laura Wolf. For the conceptual
research, the team is working closely with subject matter experts from Zoo Leipzig
. The original music was composed by Maxi Richter from
the composition class at the Neue Musik Leipzig music school and blends
contemporary soundscapes with the dynamics of the choreography
