Burgán
In the organizer's words:
The performance "Burgán" presents a trio of Generation-X-exhausted matadors whom we follow in their futile effort to restore the "normal" order of the world. The characters spin in loops of their obsessive rituals from which they cannot and perhaps do not want to exit.

At the beginning of the project, real public figures were used as a source of inspiration, enriched with certain aspects of pop culture, especially from children's literature or pop music. The inspiration from children's literature is also a subtle and ultimately almost invisible homage to the work of Czech director Jan Kačena.

With the project "Burgán" Handa Gote follows up on earlier, more "intimate" works, especially the productions "Rain Dance" and "Metal Music", which can perhaps be described as more "acting" and less intermedial. As in the case of Rain Dance, which was based on Roman Sikora's critical observation that Czech independent theater companies do not address current contemporary issues, the theme of the new work is based on the hidden neuroses of today's world, manifested in more or less cryptic theatrical images.

BURGÁN (burgunda, burgyne, burkón, burak, burka) - a regional name for fodder beets.Examples of usage: "We planted burgán so the cows would have something to eat. You young people can't imagine how hard we had it! And we were so poor that we had to eat burgán!"
