Christmas market with medieval nativity play

The year of events at Satzvey Castle comes to an atmospheric close with what is probably the most beautiful and romantic Christmas market with a medieval nativity play.

Opening hours on all 4 Advent weekends:

Saturdays from 12:00 to 20:00
Sundays from 12:00 to 19:00

Numerous traders offer their wares on the castle grounds. From handcrafted gifts such as wooden toys, Christmas tree decorations, nativity scenes, soaps and incense to culinary specialties from the region, visitors will find everything they need for a successful Christmas and bright eyes.

Nativity play staged according to medieval models

For almost three decades now, Satzvey Castle has presented a nativity play in the castle park several times a day, which is modeled on the Stauffer period in terms of its detailed design and costumes. In those days, very few people could read and so the Christmas story was told to them in this way. The scenes are brought to life by the ringing of the Proclamator's bells. The events known from the Bible are spoken and acted in Latin and Middle High German and translated by the proclamator for the audience to understand.

Great things for the little ones!

Santa's workshop welcomes all children to the castle. Hard-working elves in precious robes help them with handicrafts and crafts. Here the little ones can create their wish lists and then hand them over to Santa Claus in person. On Saturdays until 3 p.m., Santa Claus fills the children's boots or hats.
