Carl Emanuel Wolff. Trommler und Fische

The exhibition title of the presentation of the sculptor Carl Emanuel Wolff in the showcase in the Hentrichhaus immediately reveals what can be seen: "Drummer and Fish". But as simple as the title is, the scenery seems strange. The drummer is a hybrid creature, half human, half animal, cast in aluminum. He stands there with a long trunk, fur and beady eyes, beating a drum with thin batons. Is this a person in disguise? Is this a musician in a costume parade? But why are fish piled up in a heap in the room? Carl Emanuel Wolff's installation raises many questions and plays with ambivalence. For some, the drummer may appear cute with his teddy bear eyes. Others may see a sadness inherent in it. Everyone can develop a different story, different associations and thoughts. And it is precisely this openness that is the decisive factor in Carl Emanuel Wolff's work: the many possibilities he offers us when we look at his sculptures.

The opening of the exhibition will take place in parallel with the opening of Martina Sauter at Lido im Malkasten (Bar).
