CASTLE

"Damn, Castle is definitely a band I should have discovered earlier! This hard touring band from San Francisco sounds exactly the same - like they're constantly on the road. Some bands just get the hang of it: they show up somewhere, completely take over the room, the people and the sound and say, "Okay, we're gonna burn the place down!", and then do it. THAT is Castle. They're the kind of musicians who convince you that heavy metal is the way to go. They're touring to celebrate their new album Welcome to the Graveyard, out July 12th on Ván Records. Much of it is fresh and the righteously individual blend of trash, traditional metal, doom and hard rock speaks to a mystical bygone era when metal was uncompromising, defies all expectations and just goes on tour forever! Castle are so deep into their thing that I thought this concert could be anywhere! As soon as they take the stage, they are in a trance-like zone, drawing you in and keeping you there for the entire length of the set - and by the end you realize that the time has just flown by. I don't think you can really understand them until you've seen them live! And now I know why - through their numerous live performances they have perfected the face-to-face experience between themselves and the audience! I know I joined this club very late! Heavy metal doomers CASTLE will begin recording their new album in October 2023 at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC, with producer Jesse Gander (Anciients, Brutus, 3 Inches Of Blood).

The as-yet-untitled effort follows 2018's "Deal Thy Fate", recorded by longtime producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis), and 2016's critically acclaimed "Welcome To The Graveyard", which was described by Metal Hammer UK as "epic, heroic and tastefully melodic".

CASTLE was formed in San Francisco in 2009 and released their debut album In Witch Order in 2011 via German label Ván Records. The album brought the newly formed band into the spotlight and earned them the "Album Of The Year" award from Metal Hammer Norway. Shortly after, CASTLE joined Prosthetic Records in North America and released their critically acclaimed second album Blacklands, which earned them a Canadian JUNO nomination for "Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year", as well as the follow-up Under Siege in 2014.

Since the release of their first album, CASTLE have toured relentlessly, playing over six hundred shows worldwide with the likes of The Sword, Conan, Intronaut, The Skull and Pentagram. The group has performed at numerous underground music festivals including Roadburn, London and Berlin's Desertfests, and recently completed their first ever tour of Japan.
