Nearly sixty years after Che Guevara’s death, this documentary revisits one of the most iconic revolutionary stories of the twentieth century from an unexpected perspective. Rather than focusing on Che himself, the film follows the last surviving members of his guerrilla group, who managed to escape after the failed Bolivian campaign of 1967.

Director Christophe Dimitri Réveille devoted more than twenty years to the project, tracking down the remaining witnesses and recording their testimonies, many of which are being shared on camera for the first time. Combining rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and animated sequences that recreate the guerrillas’ journey through the mountains and jungles of Bolivia, the film vividly brings a little-known chapter of history to life.

Premiered in the Special Screenings section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival,*Che Guevara: The Last Companions*is less a political portrait than a human story of loyalty, survival, and memory.
