Our XXL Chess Night in Dortmund takes place quarterly at Shades and offers space for up to 64 participants.

Blitz Chess Tournament 3+2

We start the tournament with a preliminary round, which serves to classify the playing strength of all participants. For this purpose, we form groups of four players in which everyone plays against everyone else. Your final group ranking at the end will decide which main round you will go on to play in:

• 1st place = Champions Cup

• 2nd place = Pro Cup

• 3rd place = Advanced Cup

• 4th place = Beginners Cup

The main round is played in the Swiss system (7 rounds). Here you will meet other players with a similar level of play to yours, so that you have a fair chance of finishing on the winner's podium in your cup and taking home a small award.

Side event: Tandem tournament

Following the blitz chess tournament, there will be a small tandem tournament - in the Swiss system with 7 rounds and a thinking time of 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move. The teams for this will be formed on the basis of the final ranking of the blitz chess tournament: First place plays together with last place, second place plays together with second to last place, etc.

Here too, the teams on the winners' podium can look forward to a small award.
