Choy Ka Fai: Sometimes I See The Future

In the organizer's words:

world premiere

Lecture performance with dancing avatar and hyperreal meta humans

In Sometimes I see The Future, Choy Ka Fai explores telepresence and digitally circulating dances from the perspective of cosplaying. Cosplay enables a particular manifestation of being, a way of creating new communities - and at the same time the experience of otherness. Beyond playful self-expression and the popular form of entertainment, cosplaying here becomes the starting point for an investigation of post-human worlds.

"Dance exists everywhere in our social media. I am creating an extreme self-portrait inspired by artificial intelligence, render farms, chatbots, cosplays, Twitch streaming and virtual YouTubers. However, it's not really a self-portrait, but what we all want to be/can be/will be in the age of accelerated digital culture. I'm interested in the discourse of how we move towards Web 3.0, how we decentralize technology in the future, and how we can be human in the future." (Choy Ka Fai)
