Literary Autumn 2025
Christian Baron "Three Sisters"
The author in reading and conversation with Jörg Schieke
With this moving story about the three sisters Mira, Juli and Ella, Christian Baron brings the 1980s to life - an era in which the cultural and socio-political roots of the present lie. At the end of his Kaiserslautern trilogy, Baron, again with an autobiographical background, tells of a world that promises women everything, but against whose invisible walls the three sisters from "simple backgrounds" in class society must constantly struggle. A tender novel about courage and new beginnings, about falling and moving on - and again and again about hope and love (Claassen 2025).
Christian Baron, born in 1985, is a freelance author living in Berlin. After studying political science, sociology and German studies in Trier, he worked as a newspaper editor for several years. In 2020, Claassen published his multi-award-winning literary debut "Ein Mann seiner Klasse", which was made into a film and adapted for the theater stage. His second novel "Schön ist die Nacht" followed in 2022.
Jörg Schieke, born in Rostock in 1965, studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig, worked as an editor for the Aufbau publishing group and as an editor for the literary magazine Edit. Since 2004, he has worked as a freelance author and editor for MDR Kultur. His most recent book was "Silverman schickt mich" (Poetenladen Verlag, 2024).
