Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber have been celebrated worldwide for many years, especially as interpreters of the German lied repertoire from Schubert to Mahler. In the Pierre Boulez Hall, they now present a completely different side of their artistic partnership. Alongside French mélodies by Gabriel Fauré and Russian romances by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the program also includes four songs on Chinese poetry by Pavel Haas - one of the last works the Czech composer completed before his murder by the Nazis in Theresienstadt in 1944.
