In search of music that allows musicians and live audiences to dream together, the newly founded quintet of Berlin all-round musician, composer and actor Christian Korthals is on a fascinating journey of discovery. With the Composers' Orchestra Berlin, which has been performing regularly in Berlin for more than twelve years, he recorded his last CD "Exoplanet" in 2023 and then developed it into an abspact music theater piece with a quintet line-up at the Theater im Kino in Friedrichshain. This quintet, which is located somewhere between post-jazz and neo-romantic chamber music with excursions into sci-fi film music, is now being further developed in concert and leads to the stars. Compositions such as "Neutronenstern", "Exoplanet" and "Wild und Weit" (published by the renowned Viennese music publisher Universal Edition) tell stories of cosmic harmony, scientific fascination and perhaps also a bit of escapism. "Original pieces with hit appeal" was the verdict of JazzThing; jazz-fun.de speaks of "transitions" that are "so fluid that it is difficult to pinpoint specific moments of stylistic transformation".
